In Mid-City, construction has passed the concrete podium, with wood framing now rising at the site of a $32.7-million senior affordable apartment building from Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation.
The Amani Apartments, located on a previously vacant site at the southwest corner of Pico and Crenshaw Boulevards, will consist of a five-story, 54-unit apartment complex reserved for very low-income senior households and approximately 2,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
Abode Communities is designing the contemporary low-rise apartment complex, which will include resident amenities such as a community room, a laundry facility, a roof deck, and a landscaped courtyard.
According to an application for tax credit financing, rents for the apartments at the Amani will start at $548 per month.
General contractor R.D. Olson Construction has estimated that construction will be completed in the third quarter of 2022.
