Another New York City real estate site? Kind of.

There’s certainly no shortage of real estate sources in NYC—we know where to get our celebrity sales fodder, where to find funky listings, where to read the latest luxury tower exposé, and so on... What Urbanize NYC hopes to do differently is give greater context to changes happening within our fair metropolis. More than that, we want to be a space where you can share ideas, engage with fellow New Yorkers, and make sense of all the noise in the city that never stops building.

Although development has slowed and vacancies have spiked since the start of the pandemic, we know NYC is not dead forever. Yes, New York may not become what was envisioned for it this time last year, but the open question of “What’s next?” brings forward equally exciting prospects. And we’re ready for them.

At Urbanize NYC we’re here to report on issues related to development, urban planning, architecture, historic preservation, affordable housing, infrastructure, transportation, and commercial real estate.

Urbanize, which launched in Los Angeles in 2015, was born from a passion for cities and how they evolve through urban planning. Atlanta and Detroit were the first cities to be added to the Urbanize network (both are shrewdly managed by a couple of Curbed alum), and you can expect several more US metros to pop up in the coming weeks and months.

As you can see, this site is very much in its infancy, and you might encounter some bugs here and there (we’re working on it!). But as we move forward, we want to evolve and grow with your input. Boldface: We want to hear from you. So email us, tweet at us, comment below, get in our DMs, find us on Facebook, or @ us on IG, and we’ll be there.
