The wood frame of a mixed-use development is now rising at the southeast corner of Washington and Inglewood Boulevards in Culver City.

The project, called Pennylane, will be a five-story structure featuring 97 studio and one-bedroom dwellings above 15,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and basement parking for 200 vehicles.  Developer CityView will set aside four of the apartments as affordable housing.

PK Architecture is designing the podium type building, which will wrap around an internal courtyard.

The Pennylane development was entitled by Vancouver-based Bastion Development Corporation, which built the Oliver apartments at the opposite corner of Washington and Inglewood.
