On Wednesday, the Palms Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Committee is scheduled to give its first consideration to a proposed mixed-use development near Sony Pictures Studios.

The project, filed in October 2017 by Vancouver-based Bastion Development, would replace an auto body shop at Washington Boulevard and Motor Avenue with a seven-story building featuring 108 residential units above 3,600 square feet of ground-floor retail uses and two basement parking levels.

PK Architecture is designing the mid-rise structure, which is shown as featuring an exterior of glass and metal.  Updated renderings displayed on the Agoura Hills-based firm's website show a U-shaped mass above a podium, with a pool and amenity deck facing toward Motor Avenue.

The project is one of two current proposed development that comes from both PK Architecture and Bastion, joining at two-building complex slated for Olympic Boulevard in Koreatown.  The two also worked to entitle the 97-unit Pennylane development in Culver City, which was eventually sold to CityView.

Several other multifamily residential buildings are also rising on this Culver City-adjacent stretch of Washington Boulevard, including Greystar Real Estate's 135-unit Cobalt apartments.
