A presentation to the West Hollywood Planning Commission's Design Review Subcommittee unveils renderings for a new townhome development planned just north of Santa Monica Boulevard.

The project, which comes from applicant BSLI Detroit Street, would redevelop two properties at 1138-1144 Detroit Street with 10 three-bedroom condominiums.  Plans call for a pair of four-story buildings featuring three levels of residential uses atop ground-floor parking.

Aaron Brumer & Associates is designing the proposed townhomes, each of which would span approximately 1,500 square feet.  Renderings depict a development similar in style to the small lot subdivisions seen in Los Angeles.

A memo to the design review subcommittee from architect Gwynne Pugh recommends that the project should be approved, but also suggests potential changes to its driveway and the prominent location of a transformer along the property's street frontage.

The project site is located across the street from Blue Hibiscus, a 22-unit affordable apartment complex that was completed last year.
