Relevant Group has fenced off a parking lot at 6516-6526 W. Selma Avenue, signaling the imminent start of construction at Hollywood's Tommie Hotel.

The proposed eight-story building, located immediately west of the Mama Shelter Hotel, will feature 212 guest rooms above ground-floor commercial uses and an underground parking structure.

Architecture firm Steinberg Hart is designing the mid-rise structure, which will feature amenity decks at both the roof and podium levels.  Renderings show a boxy structure with a grid-like window pattern.

The project is the third hotel within a one-block radius for Relevant Group, which has already completed a Dream Hotel at Selma and Cahuenga Boulevard and is now in the midst of construction on a Thompson Hotel on Wilcox Avenue.  Plans are also in the works for other establishments at Selma's intersections with Wilcox and Schrader Boulevard.

The Selma development is Relevant's second attempt at building a Tommie in Hollywood, having previously entitled a property near Amoeba Records for a 200-room hotel.  Relevant would later sell the land to Oxford Capital Group, which has since moved forward with the project as the first Los Angeles location of the Godfrey Hotel chain.
