The first Throwback Thursday of 2018 focuses on one of the tallest buildings now under construction in Los Angeles: Onni Group's 825 South Hill.

The Canadian development firm is building a 50-story tower parking lot on a mid-block property at 825 S. Hill Street, consisting of 516 rental apartments atop 5,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.

The before image, taken by photographer Hunter Kerhart in November 2016, shows the development at the beginning of its vertical climb.  The second image, from November 2017, shows it soaring high above its neighbors.

Chris Dikeakos Architects has designed the building with an apex 637 feet above ground level, which would make it the tallest purely residential development in Los Angeles.

Completion is anticipated in 2019.
