The project, called Heritage South II, would redevelop a small restaurant and an otherwise vacant lot with a new three-story, 109,000-square-foot building containing 70 units of supportive housing with 2,200 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Plans also call for parking for 37 vehicles in a surface lot to the north of the new construction.
KTGY Architecture + Planning is designing Heritage South II, which is depicted in renderings as a contemporary low-rise building. The apartmetn complex would have a a U-shaped footprint wrapping a central private courtyard. Other planned amenities include a multipurpose room and a community room.
Bridge Housing is making a preliminary presentation to the Design Commission, and no decision on the project concept is scheduled at this point in time.
The proposed apartment complex would sit directly south of the Heritage South apartments, a similar development featuring 70 income- and age-restricted apartments which opened in 2016.
Bridge Housing Corp., which is headquartered in San Francisco, is also serving as the developer for the Jordan Downs revitalization project in Watts, and is planning additional housing projects in Long Beach and Koreatown.
