Eight months after breaking ground in the Arts District, the steel frame of $100-million office development from Continuum Partners and Platinum Equity is beginning to take shape.
The project, known as Produce LA, is rising on the former site of a cold storage facility at 640 S. Santa Fe Avenue. Plans approved by the City of Los Angeles call for a four-story edifice featuring 100,000 square feet of offices above 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and parking for 217 vehicles.
EYRC Architects is designing the project, which will have a facade of corrugated steel panels, arranged to protect its interior from solar radiation. Renderings show that the low-rise structure would be capped by an amenity deck.
At the time of the project's groundbreaking, completion was anticipated in late 2020.
The project, located just south of the new Sixth Street Viaduct, is one of a handful of new office developments in the pipeline for the Arts District.
A quarter-mile south, developer Lowe and Related Fund Management recently broke ground on a nine-story, 113,000-square-foot office building on Violet Street. Larger mixed-use projects containing office space are also planned nearby by Onni Group, Tishman Speyer, and Jade Enterprises.
