Eight months after breaking ground, the wood-and-concrete frame of a small hotel is starting to rise one block east of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The project, which replaced a parking lot at 1320 S. Flower Street, will consist of a six-story building featuring 43 guest rooms, two apartments, and parking for 18 vehicles.

The contemporary podium-type development is designed by Irvine-based architecture firm nKlosures.  Renderings depict a low-rise structure capped by a rooftop deck.

City records list the hotel's developer as a limited liability company managed by Jayesh Kumar.

The project is the smallest of several hotels now in development near Metro's Pico Station and the Los Angeles Convention Center, highlighted by a dual-branded Marriott now rising at Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard, as well as an 11-story hotel and condo project slated to replace commercial buildings at 1323-1331 S. Flower Street.
