An infill apartment building is now taking shape on a long-empty site across the street from Echo Park.

The project, located at 1111 N. Echo Park Boulevard, consists of a four-story building consisting of three levels of housing atop a street-level garage.  According to construction permits on file with the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, the development will include 12 residential units.

City records list the project's architect as Jazayeri Siavash of Woodland Hills.

The development site is owned by an entity affiliated with the Hillcrest Company, a real estate investment firm that has developed apartments in the Downtown Arts District.

The Echo Park site is located three blocks east of Glendale Boulevard, where a similar multifamily housing project is slated for a vacant lot.
