Pasadena-based Maxsum Development intends to raze a series of small commercial buildings in Koreatown to make way for a new hotel, according to an environmental report published today by the City of Los Angeles.

The proposed development, slated for a half-acre site at 2870 W. Olympic Boulevard, calls for the construction of a six-story building, featuring 120 hotel rooms, 6,100 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and over 13,000 square feet of guest amenities.  The project would also create parking for 104 vehicles, located within one subterranean level and three podium levels.

EWAI Architects is designing the podium-type building, which is portrayed with a setback and terrace level above its second floor.

Maxsum is also behinds plans for a hotel two blocks away on Dewey Avenue, as well as a proposed residential-retail complex at Vermont Avenue.
