Earlier this month, the Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa del Rey's Land Use Committee took a first look at a proposed multifamily residential development east of Los Angeles International Airport.

An entity called LDC Capital, LLC has proposed redeveloping a pair of fourplexes at 8900 and 8904 Ramsgate Avenue with a six-story building featuring 33 apartments and parking for 31 vehicles at-grade and on a basement level.  Plans call for a mix of one- and two-bedroom units, with six to be set aside as affordable housing at the extremely low-, very low-, and low-income levels.

Los Angeles-based architecture firm Wyota Workshop is designing the Ramsgate project, which is portrayed as with a mostly white facade accented with colored balconies.  Open space would be provided in the form of a courtyard carved into the center of the building, as well as roof decks created by upper-level setbacks.

The project is seeking entitlements through the Transit Oriented Communities program, which allows for increased height and density in projects that create a requisite amount of affordable housing.

One block west of Ramsgate, construction is now wrapping up for three apartment buildings featuring 187 residential units.
