A West Los Angeles apartment building from the late 1930s is slated to make way for a larger multifamily residential development.

The proposed development by NELA Homes, which went before the L.A. City Planning Commission last month, calls for replacing a two-story building at 1822 S. Overland Avenue with a six-story, 16-unit apartment complex with development incentives through the Transit Oriented Communities, guidelines.  The project would include 16 parking spaces on two subterranean levels, and two extremely low-income affordable units.

The podium-type building is being designed by architect Warren Techentin.  Renderings portray a contemporary look for the project.

An appeal of the project by an individual named David Wang argued that the property is not located sufficiently close to high-frequency bus service to justify TOC incentives.  A staff response disputed that argument, and recommended that the Commission uphold the project's approvals.
