Just east of Downtown Inglewood, a cluster of long-empty buildings have made way for a multifamily residential development.

The project, located on a nearly 37,000-square-foot site at 417-433 Centinela Avenue, will consist of a six-story edifice featuring 116 apartments above a parking garage.

A rendering depicts a contemporary low-rise building with cantilevered balconies lining its upper floors.

The project site is owned by a Long Beach entity called MPD Realty, Inc.  State records link the company to the Japanese real estate development firm Sanei Architecture Planning Co.

The development site is located within walking distance of Metro's Crenshaw/LAX Line, which will have a station at the northern boundary of Downtown Inglewood.

Other housing projects under construction nearby include the Grace Park townhomes, located at the former site of Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital, and the mixed-use Market Gateway complex on La Brea Avenue.
