An empty lot overlooking the trench once slated for the 710 Freeway could soon see the construction of multifamily housing, according to a presentation to the Pasadena Design Commission.

Paykan Corporation, owner of the property at 272 W. Bellevue Drive, is seeking approvals to build a pair of three-story structures containing seven townhome-style residences.  Plans call for three- and four-bedroom units, each of which would sit above a two-car garage, accessible via rear driveways.

The project, designed by architects at Paykan, would set the two buildings back behind a large front yard, with a central landscaped courtyard.  Additional open space would be provided in the form of a rear yard containing a swimming pool.

According to a staff report to the Design Commission, Paykan initiated entitlements for the project in April 2018, and was considered by Commissioners in June of that year.  The current plan for the property incorporates revisions to the design based on feedback given at the 2018 meeting.
