Today, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission will review a proposed senior affordable housing complex in South Robertson.

The project from nonprofit developer Mercy Housing of California is slated for a series of parcels at 8862-8876 W. Pico Boulevard, and would consist of a six-story structure featuring 48 residential units above a 68-car garage.  A portion of the parking structure would be set aside for use by local businesses and neighbors, and an additional 26 parking spaces may also be provided through the development should City funding materialize.

According to a presentation given last year to the South Robertson Neighborhood Council's Land Use and Economic Develompent Committee, plans call for mostly one-bedroom dwellings, as well as a small number of studios and a two-bedroom manager's unit.  All non-manger units would be set aside for low-income seniors, aged 62 and above, as well as 12 units reserved for formerly homeless senior veterans.

Santa Monica-based Killefer Flammang Architects is designing the contemporary podium-type building, which will provide more than 4,800 square feet of common open space.  Proposed amenities include an interior courtyard, a community room with a kitchen, a fitness center and on-site laundry facilities.
