Eight months after we last dropped by, the Nordhoff Darby development has topped out next to Cal State University Northridge.

The project, named for its location at the northwest corner of Nordhoff Street and Darby Avenue, consists of a five-story building.  Plans call for 146 residential units - with a 15 percent very low-income set-aside - and 2,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

The low-rise building is being designed by DE Architects, and will incorporate amenities such as a fitness center, courtyards, a rooftop terrace, and a swimming pool.

The apartments are being developed by an entity called Nordhoff Darby, LLC, and will be managed by LBPM.  Completion is expected in mid-2020.

A short distance east on Nordhoff Street, CSUN is planning for a new hotel adjacent to the campus orange grove and pond.  As of this February, the project was on pace to break ground in Summer 2020.
