A trio of vacant homes at Saturn and Hi Point Streets are now fenced off, with a multifamily residential complex ready to rise in their place.

Culver City-based M-Rad Architecture is designing the four-story development, which will feature 45 apartments atop an underground parking structure.

The building's unique form includes tiered building heights stepping up from the intersection of Saturn and Hi Pointe.  This creates opportunities for common outdoor decks, and better natural light into each unit.

The property raised eyebrows earlier this year when its three houses were painted bright pink as part of a temporary art project.  The homes have since been repainted a less ostentatious color.
