Although social distancing has made a formal ceremony impossible, non-profit developer Community Corp. of Santa Monica has announced the groundbreaking of Pacific Landing, a mixed-use affordable housing development on Lincoln Boulevard

The project, which replaces a vacant gas station at the northwest corner of Lincoln and Pacific Street, calls for the construction of a four-story edifice featuring 37 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above 459 square feet of ground-floor retail.  Parking would also be provided for nine vehicles.

Tighe Architecture is designing Pacific Landing, which would be organized around a T-shaped interior courtyard.  The building would greet Lincoln Boulevard with "sculptural" forms composed of cement, plaster, and metal panels.  Architectural plans show that the project would also include a rooftop amenity deck.

The approximately $28.2-million development is on pace for completion in the Summer or Fall of 2021.

Community Corp. is also in the midst of construction at new affordable housing developments in the Pico neighborhood and Mar Vista.
