An empty plot of land in Pacoima could be subdivided and developing with housing, according to an initial study published earlier this month by the City of Los Angeles.

The approximately two-acre property, which is owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, is located at 11070-11100 N. Borden Avenue - less than a half-mile north of the Hansen Dam.  Plans call splitting the land into nine lots, which could then be developed with single-family residences.

The Archdiocese is also seeking to develop a 10th property, consisting of vacant land located immediately east, with a new church.

The proposed project will require a rezoning of the property for residential uses - consistent with its general plan designation.  Current zoning restricts the land to agricultural uses.
