Heavy equipment has been spotted at a mostly vacant three-acre property near Expo/Crenshaw Station, the first signs of construction for a new development of townhome-style condominiums.

The project, which is being developed by Olson Homes, would create 78 residential units in 15 buildings on a former industrial property at 2905 W. Exposition Place.  The development, located roughly a quarter-mile from the future transfer point between the Expo and Crenshaw/LAX Lines, will also include 166 parking spaces and more than 13,000 square feet of open space.

KTGY Architecture + Planning is designing the Exposition & 9th project, which will offer a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom floor plans ranging between 1,220 square feet and 1,825 square feet in size.  Plans call for six courtyards scattered throughout the property, as well as additional green space fronting Exposition Place.

Renderings of Exposition & 9th show a collection of contemporary three-story structures around along a private street.

The project will be followed by a pair of similar condo developments that are proposed to replace two other industrial properties located just north across the Expo Line right-of-way.
