Six months after we last stopped by, construction has reached street-level at the future site of the MW Lofts in Pasadena.

The project, located at the northeast corner of Walnut Street and El Molino Avenue, is being developed with a six-story edifice featuring 115 residential units above 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Tyler + Kelly Architecture is designing the project, which will be of a contemporary style with a 250-foot-long pedestrian arcade facing Walnut Street.  Plans also call for a rooftop amenity deck.

Prominent Development, the Pasadena-based firm behind the MW Lofts, acquired the project site for $11 million in 2016.

The project follows several mixed-use buildings recently constructed along Walnut Street, including two apartment buildings completed by Greystar and 400 apartments are now under construction as part of the 100 West Walnut development.

Prominent Development, the developer, is also behind plans for a similar mixed-use project near Pasadena City Hall.

Tyler + Kelly is designing several Pasadena developments, including a smaller residential-retail project slated to replace a parking lot at Walnut and Hudson Avenue.
