More than a year-and-a-half after breaking ground in Downtown Long Beach, wood framing is now in place above a concrete podium at the future site of a hotel at 1st Street and Long Beach Boulevard.

The project, located next to the A Line's 1st Street Station, will eventually stand five stories in height and contain 34 guest rooms above a small parking garage.

At the time of the start of construction in 2018, Longbeachize reported that the hotel is being developed by Yogesh Patel and designed by Gilmar.

The development site was previously improved with surface parking.

The new hotel is one of a handful of mixed-use and commercial developments now rising adjacent to the street-running segment of the A Line in the median of Long Beach Boulevard.

One block north, Onni Group broke ground last year on a $215-million housing and retail complex at 2nd Street and Broadway.  However, work on that project has stalled since the start of the lockdowns imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
