Real estate investment firm Robhana Group and development firm Inception Property Group has held an official groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of a new medical outpatient facility in Pico Union, just outside of Downtown Los Angeles.

The 60,000-square-foot Downtown West Medical Center, now rising at 1120 W. Washington Boulevard, will occupy a prominent site near the juntion of the Harbor and Santa Monica Freeways.  Renderings of the project, designed by architecture firm Ware Malcomb, portray a contemporary four-story building with an adjoining parking garage.

Healthcare Partners, a subsidiary of the DaVita Medical Group, has leased the entirety of the building, which is scheduled to open in Spring 2018.

Robhana and Inception envision the project as the first phase of a new medical hub for Downtown Los Angeles.  A second phase - known as City West Medical - will create an additional 48,000 square feet of space across the street at 1127 W. Washington Boulevard.
