Roughly 10 months after breaking ground across the street from the Crenshaw/LAX Line's Downtown Inglewood Station, the appearance of a tower crane is the latest sign of progress at the Market Gateway development

The project, which is being developed by Thomas Safran & Associates, is located at the southeast corner of Florence and La Brea Avenues.  Plans call for a six-story edifice containing 242 market-rate apartments above 48,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and a 438-car garage.

According to the website of general contractor Milender White, plans call for apartments ranging between 667 and 1,325 square feet in size, with restaurants, shops, and a grocery store lining the ground plane.

Withee Malcolm is designing Market Gateway, which will be clad in a mix of brick, precast panels, and stucco.  Common amenity spaces such as a rooftop deck and courtyards are planned at the property's exterior, supplementing internal amenities such as a community room and a fitness center.

The project, like the neighboring Crenshaw/LAX Line, was previously expected to make its debut in 2020.  The current pace of construction places the development's completion date in 2021.

The development site is located across Market Street from a proposed station on Inglewood's automated people mover system, which could be accompanied by a 600,000-square-foot commercial development under current plans.
