The proposed development, which is being developed by an entity affiliated with Goldrich Kest, is slated for a property located at Ventura Boulevard. Plans call for the construction of a six-story edifice featuring 106 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments - including 12 very low-income affordable units - with 1,200 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 123 parking stalls.
Architectural Resources Group is designing the project, which is called The Crest. Renderings depict a contemporary low-rise structure featuring two central courtyards and upper-level setbacks to create roof decks.
The design of The Crescent was inspired by surrounding Mid-Century Modern buildings, according to a narrative produced by ARG. Plans call for warm wood tones and storefront window walls, with exterior corridor balconies lined by cable rail guardrails.
A staff report to the City Planning Commission recommends that the project's requested entitlements should be improved, including off-menu density bonus incentives which would be granted in exchange for providing on-site affordable housing.
Other projects currently in the works for Studio City include the redevelopment of the Sportsmen's Lodge and a 15-story story tower which would expand the Universal Hilton Hotel.
