In a sign of increasing confidence in the Downtown Los Angeles retail scene, the Jordan Brand will establish a flagship store on the Broadway corridor.

Jordan will inhabit the historic Schaber's Cafeteria building at 620 S. Broadway, a three-story edifice which dates back to the late 1920s.  The proposed 19,000-square-foot facility would include a mixture of retail space, training areas and a rooftop basketball court, according to a document from the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Committee.

The project from McCall Design group is expected to retain the historic nature of the Schaber's building, preserving much of its original facade ornamentation.

Jordan Brand, a Nike subsidiary named for Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, would join similar footwear retailers such as Shiekh and Footaction that have also set up shop along Broadway within the past two years.
