Eight months after breaking ground in Historic South-Central, the arrival of a red tower crane signals the next phase of construction for a mixed-use complex from Los Angeles-based developer Cityview.
The project, now rising at the northeast corner of Adams Boulevard and Grand Avenue, will consist of a seven-story building featuring 296 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments above roughly 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a 390-car garage.

Cityview will set aside 25 of the apartments as deed-restricted very low-income affordable housing, with an additional three units priced for moderate-income households, per a condition of approval imposed by Los Angeles city officials.
Humphreys & Partners is designing the Adams & Grand, which is depicted in a rendering as a colorful low-rise structure with multiple rooftop decks. Planned amenities include a fitness center, a club room, and a swimming pool.
The project's design and construction team is rounded out by WPIC Construction LLC, Togawa Smith Martin, Nadia Geller Designs, and John Labib & Associates on the project.
Completion of Adams & Grand is on pace for early 2023.

The apartment complex, which will rise a block east of Metro's LATTC/Ortho Institute Station, could be soon be neighbored by a 15-story apartment tower planned to replace a parking lot on Flower Street.
Cityview recently broke ground on a similar housing and retail complex on Pico Boulevard in the Carthay community, and has also obtained approvals for a mixed-use building on Beverly Boulevard in Westlake.
