Two years after breaking ground, developer Hollywood Community Housing Corporation has cut the ribbon at the Gramercy Place Apartments, a new senior supportive housing complex in Harvard Heights.

The more than $37-million project, located at 2375 W. Washington Boulevard, replaced a surface parking lot spanning between Gramercy Place and Wilton Place.  The new four-story edifice features 64 one- and two-bedroom apartments - half of which are reserved for unhoused seniors above 2,900 square feet of ground-floor space and parking for 63 vehicles.

”The process for creating Gramercy Place Apartments was a wonderfully collaborative journey," reads a statement released by Hollywood Community Housing Corporation.  "Starting with the City identifying land they own that could become affordable housing, to members of the community opening their homes so we could discuss design ideas, to the United Neighborhoods Neighborhood Council ultimately providing their support. We are also grateful to local government where Mark Ridley-Thomas supported us when he was on the County Board of Supervisors, and continues to support the property and the residents as their new City Councilmember.”

Kevin Daly Architects designed the project, which features a mid-block setback facing Washington Boulevard, and rear-facing terrace deck which provides open space for residents and transitional height toward the lower-scale neighborhood to the north.

The project, which is already leased, is reserved for seniors earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income.  Rents are set between $1,056 and $1,521 per month, according to a landing page on the Hollywood Community Housing website.
