The project, located at 2423-2431 E. 1st Street, is the second phase of the Cielito Lindo Apartments - which opened last year on an adjacent property. The four-story building currently under construction will contain 28 units of affordable and supportive housing, as well as 1,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and parking.
According to a staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, the approximately $15.4-million project will offer a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, catering to households earning at or below 30, 40, and 50 percent of the area median income levels. Rents will range from as low as $340 per month for a studio apartment to as much as $1,171 per month for a three-bedroom unit.
The project, designed by Gonzalez Goodale Architects, is depicted as a contemporary four-story building with an outdoor deck. The building is of a similar appearance to the larger phase one development, which was also designed by Gonzalez Goodale.
Upon completion, resident services will be provided by ELACC and Jovenes, Inc.
ELACC is also planning a third development for a Metro-owned parcel adjacent to Soto Station. The Los Lirios apartments would include 63 residential units and ground-floor commercial space.
