A half-mile west of the G Line Busway's Laurel Canyon Station, the wood and concrete frame of a mixed-use development is starting to rise.

The project, now under construction at the southeast corner of Chandler Boulevard and Whitsett Avenue, will consist of a five-story building featuring 69 one- and two- bedroom apartments, in addition to 4,250 square feet of street-fronting retail space and a 140-car garage.

Approved plans call for a total of nine apartments to be set aside as affordable housing, in exchange for density bonus incentives permitting increased floor area and building height.

The mixed-use building, designed by GMPA Architects, is depicted in renderings as a colorful low-rise structure.  Planned on-site amenities include a recreation deck, a gym, and a community room.

City records list the developer of the project as an entity managed by investor Yaron Levy.
