A staff report to the Pasadena Design Commission offers up new images of Heritage South II, a proposed permanent supportive housing complex which would rise from a corner lot at Fair Oaks Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard.

BRIDGE Housing Corp., which built the neighboring Heritage South Senior Apartments at 762 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, is behind the proposed development, which would replace a drive-through restaurant with a new three-story complex featuring 70 units of permanent supportive housing for older adults above roughly 2,200 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Plans also call for 37 parking spaces in an adjoining surface lot.

KTGY is designing the Heritage South II, which is depicted in plans as a contemporary low-rise development with U-shaped footprint wrapping a central private courtyard. In addition to housing and on-site services, plans call for common spaces such as a multipurpose room and a community room.

Proposed exterior finishes include painted stucco, fiber-cement panels, and white brick masonry. The apartment complex is split into three separate buildings, connected through gardens, courtyards, and pedestrian walkways.

BRIDGE Housing, the developer, is also working on the Jordan Downs revitalization project in Watts, and recently broke ground on an affordable housing complex in Long Beach.
