New renderings have emerged for the Albion Riverside Park, a six-acre expansion of the Downey Recreation Center in Lincoln Heights.

Slated for a former industrial site at the corner of Albion Street and Avenue 17, the project calls athletic fields, walking paths, fitness areas, playgrounds and a picnic area.  The property would also be improved with a new bioswale and observation area adjacent to the L.A. River.

Construction is budgeted at slightly over $27 million, with funding from Proposition O, Proposition 84 and Proposition K.

A groundbreaking was previously slated for this month, although it is unclear whether or not work has started.

On the opposite side of the L.A. River, Angelenos recently celebrated the reopening of Los Angeles State Historic Park, a 32-acre expanse on the outskirts of Chinatown that was shuttered for three years during the course of a $20-million renovation.
