Located at the southwest corner of Jefferson boulevard and Central Avenue, the more than $40-million development consists of a four-story structure featuring 74 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and parking for 86 vehicles.
The apartments, which began accepting applications in April, are priced for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income. This translates to as little as $21,950 in annual income for a single adult or up to $62,600 for a family of four.
KFA Architecture designed the podium-type building, which will include a community-serving health center and a pedestrian plaza fronting Jefferson Boulevard. Two murals the project's namesake - dancer and singer Florence Mills - are also displayed prominently.
The project follows closely behind Hollywood Community Housing's Paul R. Williams Apartments which opened on a neighboring property in 2019.
