An auto repair shop in Silver Lake has bitten the dust, and a multifamily residential development is ready to rise in its place.

The project site, located at 505 Silver Lake Boulevard, is entitled for the construction of a five-story building which will feature 60 apartments - including five extremely low-income affordable units - with 45 parking stalls on a single basement level.  Architectural plans show a a mix of one- and two-bedroom floor plans, including street-fronting townhouses along Silver Lake Boulevard.

Project entitlements were obtained with Transit Oriented Communities affordable housing incentives, allowing for additional height and reduced open space.

NAC Architecture is designing the podium-type building, which will feature a central courtyard and a rooftop deck.  Renderings depict a contemporary look for the project, with an exterior of stucco accented by wooden panels.

City records indicate that A.J. Khair Development & Construction is behind the project.  The company's other ongoing projects include proposed hotels in Hollywood and San Pedro, and a mixed-use apartment complex now rising on Sunset Boulevard.
