At its meeting this week, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission is scheduled to consider a proposed supportive housing development in Van Nuys.

The project, called Confianza, is being developed by Skid Row Housing Trust.  Plans call for the construction of a collection of three- and four-story structures on a currently vacant lot at 14142-14154 W. Vanowen Street, featuring 64 dwelling units, six parking stalls, and on-site supportive services.

The Gensler-designed complex would consist of five residential structures surrounding a rear-facing courtyard.  A series of pedestrian bridges would connect the buildings on their upper floors.

The apartments at Confianza are to be reserved as affordable housing for low- and very low-income households for a period of 55 years.
