Later today, the Hollywood Studio District Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Management Committee is scheduled to review a proposal from the non-profit organization PATH Ventures to raze its existing Hollywood facility to construct a larger affordable housing complex.

According to plans filed last year with the City of Los Angeles, the triangular property at 5627 W. Fernwood Avenue is slated for the construction of a five-story building featuring 59 units of very-low-income housing and one market rate manager's unit.  PATH is seeking entitlements through the City's Transit Oriented Communities program, which allows projects that provide a requisite percentage of affordable housing extra density and height, as well relief from other zoning restrictions.

The Architects Collective is designing the low-rise structure, which would orient its units around a central courtyard that opens to Fernwood Avenue.

The new affordable housing will be neighbored by a market-rate development planned for an adjacent property.
