Construction is scheduled to begin early next year on a mid-rise condo development in Koreatown, announced Bittoni Architects this week.

The project, called Newshire, would rise at the southeast corner of James M. Wood Boulevard and New Hampshire Avenue.  Plans call for an eight-story building containing 56 residential units above at-grade and subterranean parking.

Project approvals include Transit Oriented Communities affordable housing incentives.

Bittoni's designs for the building include private balconies along the exterior and a large rooftop deck with views of the Downtown skyline.

Newshire's project applicant is an entity managed by local real estate investor Eitan Gonen.

The development site is located just one block west of the intersection of James M. Wood Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, where prolific Koreatown developer Jamison Services, Inc. is now building a six-story, 193-unit apartment complex with street-fronting retail space.
