The curtain has finally come down at 550 S. Main Street, offering a look at the (nearly) completed Topaz apartments in the Historic Core.

The seven-story building, which ocuppies a mid-block property between Main and Los Angeles Streets, will feature 159 apartments and 23,000 square feet of retail space when it opens in Winter 2017.  The mixture of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units will provide access to communal amenities such as a fitness center, a swimming pool and landscaped courtyards.

Architecture firm Tate Snyder Kimsey designed the podium-type structure, which is highlighted by a large blade sign along Main Street and an illuminated urban window facing Los Angeles Street.

Jade Enterprises is developing the project, which is part of a larger portfolio of mixed-use buildings throughout Downtown Los Angeles.
