Developers Ledcor Properties Inc. and Anderson Pacific LLC, along with partners Qualico and Lantower Residential, are scheduled to break ground today on Shoreline Gateway, a new apartment tower in Downtown Long Beach.

Located at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue, the project replaces a surface parking lot with a 35-story that will be among the tallest buildings in Long Beach upon completion.  Plans call for 315 residential units, as well as 6,460 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and five levels of subterranean parking.  The mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments will range between 580 square feet and 2,480 square feet in size - with two-story penthouses planned for the tower's uppermost levels.

The sleek glass tower - designed by a team that includes Studio One Eleven, Carrier Johnson + Culture, and RELM Studio - will feature amenity spaces as both the third floor and roof levels, including a fitness center, a community room, and a swimming pool.

The new tower is considered a companion building to The Current, a 17-story, 223-unit apartment tower which opened next-door in 2016.  The two towers - which will share a 10,000-square-foot common plaza - were initially submitted for entitlements in 2004.

Completion of the Shoreline Gateway development is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2021.
