A proposed mixed-use building in North Hollywood will soon bring a 365 by Whole Foods Market to Lankershim Boulevard, the neighborhood's main commercial thoroughfare.

The Lankershim + Otsego development, named for its location at the corner of Lankershim Boulevard and Otsego Street, will consist of a seven-story building featuring 297 market rate and very low income apartments above approximately 24,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.  The 1.37-acre project site - which also includes a rectangular parcel fronting Klump Avenue - will bring a mixture of studio, one- and two-bedroom dwellings with amenities such as courtyards, a rooftop deck and a fitness center.

Hayes Capital Management, the Woodland Hills-based real estate firm behind the development, has tapped Santa Monica's DE Architects to design the podium-type building.  Renderings show a modern mid-rise structure, employing a variety of exterior finishes.  Lankershim + Otsego greets its namesake intersection with a small plaza for outdoor seating, overlooked by offset floor plans that create terrace balconies.

A timeline for the mixed-use development is currently unclear, although photographer Michael Hayes indicates that site preparation is already underway.

The subject property sits three blocks south of Metro's North Hollywood Station, where a host of similar developments are either planned or underway.
