The former site of a Howards Electronics store in San Gabriel has been cleared to dirt, and a mixed-use housing development is slated to rise in its place.

The 1.12-acre project site, located along the south side of Valley Boulevard between Palm and Euclid Avenues, is approved for the construction of a new five-story complex containing 68 residential units above 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a semi-subterranean parking garage.

A rendering of the project, which is being built by general contractor Burrell Construction, depicts a pair of contemporary low-rise buildings split by a ground-level courtyard.

Los Angeles County Assessor Records list the owner of the 300 E. Valley Boulevard property as Lanai Property, LLC, a San Gabriel-based entity managed by Gerard Ngo.

The project site is located one block east of the intersection of Valley and Del Mar Avenue, where construction is underway for two additional developments featuring a Hyatt Place hotel, condominiums, retail space, and parking.

Directly north across Valley Boulevard from the former Howards property, a 288-room Sheraton Hotel was completed in 2018.
