Nearly two years after breaking ground in Marina del Rey, the AMLI MDR apartments are now taking form, with wood skeletons protruding above concrete podums.

Located on an L-shaped lot at Via Marina and Panay Way, the $165-million development from AMLI Residential consists of multiple five-story buildings that will feature 585 residential units, in addition to amenities such as outdoor swimming pools, barbeque areas and a small retail component.

The project is designed by TCA Architects, which was inspired by the image of a boathouse with a simple shed roof and exposed rafters.  Each of the buildings opens onto a waterfront promenade that wraps the approximately 10-acre site.

TCA has also created a series of virtual reality panoramas for the AMLI project.

Completion of the mixed-use complex is anticipated later this year.
