At the northern edge of Downtown Long Beach, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles has broken ground on a new development of income-restricted for sale homes.

The project, which is being built on a strip of land at the intersection of 14th Street and Pacific Avenue, will consist of 10 residential units - all of which would be sold individually. The project includes a single building with six attached townhomes as well as two duplexes.
The project will consist of Craftsman style buildings, each standing two stories in height and featuring a private yard with a two-car garage. A total of 1,500 square feet of common open space and three guest parking spaces would be shared across the development.
Per a 2018 staff report to the Long Beach Planning Commission, the homes will be sold to low- and moderate-income households.

The development site, previously owned by the Long Beach Community Investment Company, was cleared between 2006 and 2009 to facilitate the construction of an affordable housing project. However, the demise of the state redevelopment agencies not long afterward stripped funding for that project, leaving the site vacant until Habitat for Humanity took control.
Habitat's other projects in Los Angeles County include new projects in the unincorporated communities of Willowbrook and Florence-Firestone, and another Long Beach development which would bring 36 townhomes to an empty lot near the A Line's Anaheim Street Station.
