The Cesar Chavez Foundation and New Direction for Veterans have completed construction of an affordable housing development for seniors and veterans in West Adams.

Ybarra Village, located just north of Expo/La Brea Station at 3015 S. West Street, consists of a four-story edifice featuring 63 one- and two-bedroom apartments.  The housing is to be made available to households earning at or below 30 and 50 percent of the area median income.

Togawa Smith Martin designed the Spanish Colonial Revival building, which draws on the architecture of several nearby apartment buildings which date to the 1920s.  The interior of the structure offers amenities such as a computer room, a fitness center, supportive services, and parking for 53 vehicles.

The project site was previously improved with multiple buildings containing 15 apartments.  All prior residents were relocated prior to the start of construction.

New Directions for Veterans, which is based out of the Veterans Administration campus in Westwood, has previously worked with East L.A. Community Corporation on a housing project in Sun Valley.

The Cesar Chavez Foundation's other developments include a proposed affordable housing complex behind the Westlake Theatre.
