Construction of new affordable housing development geared towards artists continues to progress in Carson.

The Carson Arts Colony, which is being developed by Meta Housing Corp., will consist of 46 apartments in a series of three-story buildings at 21205 Main Street.  At completion, the project will offer a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings catering to artists and their families.

The apartments will be set aside for households earning at or below 30 and 45 percent of the area median income.  Rents will range from $386 to $1,406 per month.

Y&M Architects is designing the Carson Arts Colony, which will include amenities such as a picnic area, a gym, a courtyard, a children's play area, a community room, and an art gallery.

The project team also includes Western Community Housing, Inc., EngAGE, and WSH Management.

Meta Housing Corp. is planning another arts colony in the Mid-City area.
