A local real estate development firm will bring new for-sale housing to an industrial site next to the Whittier Greenway, Lee & Associates announced last month.

Downey-based Florence Homes is the buyer of the five-parcel, 1.21-acre site located at 8315-8319 and 8335 Greenleaf Avenue, which will be cleared of existing buildings to make way for the construction of 17 detached condominiums.

“The City of Whittier made a great decision in rezoning this underutilized site,” said Lee & Associates senior vice president Jesse Muñoz, who represented Florence Homes in the transaction. “The highest and best use for the property is a residential project, and my client has the vision and experience to realize its potential.”

The project site sits roughly one-mile south of The Groves in Whittier, a 75-acre development housing and commercial development from Lennar and Brookfield at the site of a defunct youth prison.

Florence Homes is also developing a 62-unit apartment building on Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk.
