Just over one year after getting the go-ahead from the City of Los Angeles, developer Haroni Investments has completed vertical construction of a multifamily residential complex in the Broadway-Manchester community.

The project, now fully framed on a 30,000-square-foot site at 1632-1656 W. Florence Avenue, consists of a five-story edifice that will feature 128 apartments - including 13 affordable units - above parking for 64 vehicles.

John Kaliski Architects is designing the project, which will include a ground-floor recreation room, two podium-level courtyards, and two rooftop terrace decks.

While functional and efficient in layout, stacking of units, and use of materials, the pattern of three-colored stucco, offset windows, and breaks in massing provides visual variety along each of the four elevations, and a sense of both formal and playful scale that relates the individual walking by to both the parts and whole of the design," reads a design description posted to the firm's website.  "An open-steel, orange-painted stair, rising up the façade marks the main sidewalk entry, and complements an offset pattern of similarly painted steel balconies and 'eyebrows.'"

Completion of the apartment complex was originally anticipated in 2021.
