A new development of detached single-family homes is set to rise in Signal Hill, developer RC Homes announced earlier this month.

The project, called Summerland, is now under construction at 1399 23rd Street - a mid-block site between Walnut and Orange Avenues.

“RC Homes is excited to announce that Summerland Signal Hill is an all-electric community, which reduces environmental impacts of natural gas” said RC Homes president Matt Livingston in a news release. “Each home includes a solar system and utilizes the latest in energy and cost-saving appliance options, so that homeowners will not only feel a sense of community upon moving in, but know that they are doing their part to reduce our carbon footprint.”

The collection of two-story buildings, designed with tile roofs and stucco exteriors, will be arranged in two rows flanking a central driveway.  Plans call for 1,630-square-foot houses, each featuring three bedrooms and a two-car garage.

Completion is expected in the second half of 2021.

RC Homes has previously built townhomes and small lot subdivisions in Silver Lake and Hollywood, and is now in the midst of construction on nine houses in Lake Balboa.
